Back Into the Working World

Those of you who have been reading my blog posts have probably read the one I wrote about being jobless and laid off. I did receive unemployment from the layoff, but I didn't receive as much as I thought I would because a power plant closed down the same time that I lost my job. That meant that there were many of us who were applying for unemployment all at once so I believe they had to hand out money accordingly, and I was at the bottom of the stack. I spent everyday applying for numerous jobs, some jobs that I didn't even fully qualify for. Unfortunately, I wasn't called for many interviews. Luckily, I had a friend who was looking out for me, and she was able to get me an interview at the place she worked the moment they started hiring. The pay isn't spectacular like my last job, and the hours are only part time though so I will have to work two jobs (something I've never before either), but at least it is something. A perk of the new job though is that I get a free membership at the gym. It was also really good timing too because my unemployment will be running out soon. Going back into the working world after not having a job for over three months is very strange. I had gotten used to my old job, and I figured that I would be there for a while, but things in the world are always changing. Good luck to those still looking for jobs!
